Need Help for Direct Fire Ignition
#1
Hi,
I am new to this whole rotary world. I was wanting to do a direct fire on my 74 mazda rx4 but dont know where to start. Ive been trying to find a site with the schematics but ive had no luck. So if anyone can give info on the whole rx4 iginition, ill take it.
Ohh, heres some info on my rx4, it has a 13b rotary with a two barrel carb on it, car turns over but has no spark at all to actually fire it up. Also my distributor has two black boxes on it instead of the metal ones.
So if anyone has some clue on why this is happening that would be excellent.
Thanks

I have never heard of direct fire. Also strange is that your 13B has a 2-barrel carburetor, as stock would be a single 4-bbl. Some people convert to a performance 2-barrel, such as a Weber, but that immediate indicates that something has been done to that engine that's out of the book. Lastly, I don't know what black boxes on the distributor you are referring to. It's a bit unclear what you are dealing with.
The first thing you want to explore is why you don't have a spark. If the car was running before you got it, the coils and ignitors would be my first guess. But again, if you are totally in the dark, consulting somebody who knows about rotaries might be your smartest move at this point.
Good luck!

Direct Fire as in NO Distributor? I suppose you could swap RX7 parts (Mainly the CAS and 4 Coils).
