Stone Racing
#1
hello,
im not one to bad mouth just because i hear something or what not but i need to get this out. sscromeauto aka stone racing manifolds are about the cheapest pills of **** that i have seen. sure its shinny , sure its tig welded , sure it has braces to prevent cracks but IT DOES NOT BOLT UP THE THE MOTOR WITH THE TURBO EXHAUST HOUSING BOLTED ON.
ok let me clarify what i am bitching about. i have a fd t4 exhaust manifold , i saw it on e-bay thought it might be a good place to start with my set up , all i needed to do was get one with no waist gate flange or just cut it off and weld on my own as i am not running a hks style waist gate. so i bypassed ebay and emailed stone raceing directly, never got a responce . so i kept looking for one not on ebay as i will never use ebay again but that is a whole other story there and we are talking about stone and not ebay.
so i finally find one on this fine site in the parts for sale , the person who had it sade his 1.32 a/r housing was hitting his intake manifold so i figure i had a smaller turbo i would try it , it was at a ebay buy as price so i wasnt loosing out on a better deal. so i get the manifold.
after i receved it i inspect it and notice that sure its braced well but from being around machine shops and welders an all that i if i was going to get this manifold to work will be doing alot of rewelding in the future as i figure the pipes will crack around the welds, there was no penetration on the braces. and then i go and bolt up the manifold to the motor and to my not so suprized imagination found this pile of **** wouldnt work in anyway shape or form.
first the turbo wont bolt up as it hits the intake manifold about 1/8" before its fully positioned on the mounts, then i find that the stud holes are taped for 8mm bolts and not 10mm wich sucks as this is ss and for anyone who has worked with ss knows how much of a pain in the *** it is to work with. then i come to the waist gate, hahahah if i was goin to use this manifold even with a hks style waist gate i would have to raise the ride hight of my car about 2 inches as the flange sits so low to the ground the waist gate would drag on the ground.
so i buy 2 mazdatrix exhaust flanges and i was going to weld them onto the manifold to space out the manifold 7/8 " so i can bolt on the turbo so it wouldnt hit the intake . so i just mock it up bolt a spare turbo housing to the manifold and mount it on the motor. turbo still too close to the intake so i say **** it this manifold is just a bad design and would be a better paper weight then anything.
so i try and contact stone again and never get any responces ever and now im stuck. yes it was a expencive paper weight , because thats all this piece of **** is good for.
i hope thoughs of you who wanted a stone manifold think twice about buying one. they do not work for ****.
