One of the worm gears split in two. Damaged the rear cover, and nicked the ring and pinion.

Hard to see where the ring and pinion are nicked, but Ito didn't reccomend using them.

At this point I thought we were stuck. I made some calls, and got lucky. MVA Racing had a 3rd gen rear with a mere 39k miles on it and let me have the whole thing for $159. I picked it up, the parts were swapped, and the rest went back together pretty smoothly with the excepting of the passenger axle being a bitch. So I spent $190 for the Turbo 2 cluch-type diff, $150 for the replacement fd rear, $30 on amsoil racing gear oil and fricting modifyer, $45 to press in bearings at Bullish, and $400 in labor. I was hoping to do more of the work myself and save on labor, but Ito didn't want me to break anything. At least car is back on the road after over a month of sitting and it seams to be working good. I feel poor now, need to make some money.

Its a clutch-type vs the pos torsen gear-type in the fd. It is ALOT stronger. Is a well kept secret among drag racers The problem with the torsen is it has nothing to absorb shock. If the load exceeds what the gears can hold, they strip and crack.
