Kumho V700's
#1
right now i have the ecsta 712's and i have NO traction. thinking about going with 255/40/17 V700's or 275/40/17 nitto 555RII's on the rears . what do you guys think. my car is a street car but if these tires are sticky enough it would be nice to be able to drag race and get good times without having to swap wheels and tires
how will the handling be with 712's up front and different tires in the rear ?

Heres what I have found: Nitto drag radials hook up great, but handle like marsh mellos, and expect them to last about 3k miles. I've tried bf kdw's, great for handling but not great for 400hp, they spin all over the place. Thats pretty much the same compound as the ecsta 712's. Right now I am running the kumho v700 (auto-x and road race) on the rear and the bf's up front, and they hook up just like the nitto's but handle fricken awsome. I highly recomend those to the higher horsepower croud. Only problem is on stock wheels they don't offer them in 245/45/16, so your stuck with 225's, but they still hook up awsome. They have also lasted about 8k miles of normal driving for me, they are bald now though. Since they don't offer them in the 245's i'm going to try victoracers, same compound just different tread pattern. Best of all they only cost about $155 from tirerack.

I told you they were garbage. Guess you can't really complain for the price. Just get so-3s for the street and use slicks on the track.

V700s aren't street tires. They have barely any treads so unless your driving in dry conditions only they may spell the end of another FD. Also, R-compounds have a finite number of heat cycles so they may not be very good for street usage. WRT dragging, V700 have very stiff sidewalls thus may not make a good drag tire. My two canadian pesos worth of opinion...
