I've got a '88 GTU and I'm not sure which calipers are on it. They're aluminum with cooling fins on the outside. Anyone a certified RX-7 guru?

Those are probably the 4 piston, if the car has 5 lug wheels it has the 4-piston brakes. They say Mazda on them right?

if its got cooling fins, its the 4 piston. The single piston fronts look like big versions of the rear calipers.

They're 5 lug wheels. I think they say Mazda on them, not sure. 4 pistons make me happy

Besides saying Mazda on them, if you look at the actual piston itself, you see it will 2 'circle' type of things on them, those are the pistons, 2 on each side of the pad for a total of 4.

Single have on circle, or just squared off in shape and not rounded at all.

Im talking about the outside of the caliper by the way.

Glad to see this thread...I just got a 5-lug conversion that (evidently) has 4-piston calipers. Sweeeet. Only downside is that someone painted them purple.

Yup, aluminum with the Mazda emblem is definetly the exterior ques of the 4 piston caipers.

My 4 piston calipers don't have the "Mazda" on them (like I've seen on some FD's).... Is that only on S5 FC's?
