Socal-sd Rx Clubs Kart Challenge: May 21
#1
Guys,
The much anticipated north (so-cal) vs south rotorhead challenge has finally been organized.
Make plans to attend this winner take all challenge on Saturday May 21.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To all wannabe go-kart racers in the North vs. South Rotorhead Challenge Round #1:
$60. per person (Due by May 14th to reserve a spot)
The date has been set for Saturday May 21. The time is 2PM. The location is K1 Speed in Carlsbad.
K1 Speed is an indoor track with electric go-karts located in Carlsbad near Palomar
airport in North San Diego County. The karts are a lot of fun and challenging to
drive quickly. Everyone we know who has driven there has had a great time.
These people ranged from complete novices to experienced auto racers. Pro racers like Boris Said, Ron Capps, Travis Pastrana and Jeremy McGrath have driven there. The karts have good low end torque and the racing surface is relatively wide with high grip asphalt making for good close racing. Average laps are in the 32 to 35 second range. For more info see:
http://www.k1speed.com
All details have been worked out on this much anticipated event with K1's management and have come up with an exciting format with lots of driving for a great price!
Based on a 20 driver minimum, we will run two race groups of 10 drivers each.
Each
group will get a:
· 12 lap practice
· 14 lap qualifier
· 16 lap race - the Formula 1 style standing start will be gridded based on the
times from the qualifier
The top 3 finishers in the 16 lap races will receive a high quality trophy. Pictures
of the race winners and others will be made available via email. We get all of this
for $60. The normal price of this package to non-members is $75. Compare this with going to Dromo or Speedcircuit where you will pay $50 for just two non-race lapping sessions. Additionally the driving experience will be better with a wider track, better traction and faster karts than the other venues. But it doesn't end here.
K1 has generously offered a Grand Finale race of at least 14 laps. This race will
consist of the top 5 finishers in each of the two group races. The winner will recieve a huge trophy for his or her victory. This is a $300 value that K1 is throwing in free for our group only! If we have more than 24 drivers, we will have a third race group with the top 50% of each of the 3 groups going into this grand finale.
However, it is critical that we have at least 20 prepaid drivers so that we can
get the funds to K1 before the event. Let's not let this great package get away.
If it is successful K1 has said that they will work with us to put on other unique
races that may also include their future new venue in Irvine.
Get your money to John L. any way you can: cash, check, etc.
