I have searched long and hard to find info on how some of the popular single turbo kits spool on a stock 13B REW, and have come up with nothing. I want to know ballpark figures that people normally see with a T78, or a T51R KAI, or GT3540, or even something completely custom that doesn't normally get used... All I'm looking for here is ideas on exactly how much potential the 13B has for spooling a huge turbo. Any ideas you folks can give me would be great. Seems like all I hear is,"it depends greatly on the turbine housing you want to use", and then I never get any answer... Seems like it would be a good idea for the places that sell these kits to put that info on the page with the kit wouldn't it?

Well my apexi kit which is a smaller kit and makes a max of about 400rwhp spools up to 15psi around 3k-3500rpms. A larger kit like the t-78 which is capable of 500+rwhp spools up to 15psi around 4k rpms. Now if you take the gt35/40 which has a dual bb setup and has the potential to pull 500+ rwhp as we have seen by some recent dyno results, its spooling up much like the apexi turbo. On stock ports these bigger turbo's will still be pulling good power up to about 8k rpms, not a bad power band between 4k and 8k.

Interesting, does it seem that the 13B has the potential to spool the same turbo faster than a MKIV Supra? Also, what kind of spool characteristics would one expect with a T51R KAI. The term streetable is a very loose term to me, as the turbo kit that I had on the Eclipse would not really pull until a little over 5K. I'm familiar with waiting a little while for full boost, in fact, I prefer it

I'm not sure about the t51r kai, i've heard its pretty laggy. It may just need some spray to spool it up.

The t51 r is way to big for the street. You won't even be near its efficiency range.

Also, I can get 15 psi by 3500 rpm, depending on where I have the balance set on my profec. In the cold weather I turn it down to reduce spiking, so it spools a bit slower.

I was looking at that dyno chart page that someone posted, and from what I can see, the GT3540 does look promising. Looks to me like it's got more hp capability than a T66 with better response.

Has anyone ever used a straight GT40 on one of these cars? In my experience, sometimes hybrid turbos don't spool that much better than a properly sized larger turbo, and also don't make as much HP. I am speaking of T3/T4 hybrids compared to straight T4 turbos. Sometimes a staged T3 turbine wheel (stage1-5) with a T4 compressor wheel will not spool any faster than a properly sized Ntrim T4 would, yet the straight T4 will make gobs more power.

i have both a mkiv and fd with single turbos T78/T04s respectively. The mkiv spools to 18 psi @ 4700rpm and the fd spools to 16 psi @ 3700 rpm
