ask an place that smogs cars what kind of inspection they do...and what not.. if they just do a tail pipe check thats good you can get it to pass easy...its just many places now are doing a visiual inspection along with a tail pipe sniff test... Also you can ask your local dmv for smog check regs..

Can the airpump be kept with some of the single turbo kits? I would hate like hell to spend that kind of $$ and not be able to run it on the street.

yes, the newer apexi rx6 kits, and the hks to4e and t51 kits let you keep it

actually the physical turbo itself has no impact on emissions at all, he only reason most wont ever pass is because they put the turbo where the air pump was

I think I mayhave written my thought down wrong. I was trying to say what you just said But what I meant by HP loss is a catalytic converter, even a high flow cat will cause HP loss...so why bother.

Even retaining the smog pump doesn't make it smog leagal. You will need to provide a CARB # or they can fail you. They can fail you for an intake that does not have a CARB # and most likey that is what they will notice or recognice since most cars are not turbo. I don't know if HKS has one but I did call Apexi and they said theirs does not nor is there one pending.

some of the hks ones do. nobody around here knows what a carb number even is, my friend got pulled over once and they saw the carb sticker and went looking for a carburator
