hi, i was wondering if any of these single turbo kits are 50 state smog legal. thanks

Well there are some kits like the apexi that retain the stock air pump.

if you can keep the air pump air control valve and main cat it should pass smog. i think hks is the only one to actually have the papers that says it legal though

it's not the size of the turbo that makes it legal. It's the emissions it puts out that makes it legal or not. You can make a t-51R pass emissions, but at what expense to Horsepower.

You also have to consider if you live in a police state like california...they do a real good visiual check of the car..and any aftermarket parts need to have a carb # to be legal...if not you fail on the spot!...they even have rolling dynos to test cars they "suspect"...so check if you have B.S. like that to deal with... I almost got screwed by a cali cop in my turbo subi once..not one thing in it was legal in cali....but he couldn't do **** because NV don't have carb # crap.

actually the physical turbo itself has no impact on emissions at all, he only reason most wont ever pass is because they put the turbo where the air pump was
