Ignition Problems, Please Help!
#1
I have a 94 FD with a GT 35/40 kit, PFC, and other mods.
I'm having what appears to be ignition problems. I have two SS blasters for the Trailing and the stock for the leading. I've checked to see if I was getting spark using one of the new coils and on the leading coil it would sparked somewhat, I tried doing the trailiing and the didn't spark (I'd see a spark when I released the spark, I tried to check the leading again and then I didn't get any spark. I'm wondering if the igniter may be bad. I'm stumped. Does anybody know how to check this piece of equipment. What else can I check.
Thanks

You can check the ignition sub harness , this is the piece that actually connects to the coils on one end and plugs into the main harness with a medium sized yellowish coloured plug on the other . This harness had burnt up (engine heat maybe ?) and was shorting internally causing the leading coil to stop fireing , I rebuilt mine , but you can buy this piece new!!.

Weird that you upgraded the trailing coils and left the stock leading.

I wanted to upgrade the leading coils to two SS Blasters, then I thought I just might upgrade to a new Gen III leading coil but they are 187 dollars so I waited. I checked if I was getting spark using one of the new SS blasters, at first try I got spark on the leading wires, then I tried the trailing and I had no spark, then I went back to the leading to check again and I didn't get any spark whatsoever. I don't know if the battery not been fully charged had something to do with it or the igniter was getting hot and not letting generate the signal, I don't know.
Do you know how to check the igniter without the harness that they mention in the manual?
