Synthetic Oil
#1
What is everybody's thoughts on using synthetic oil, and those who do, when did you start using it? Ive always been cautious to use it during the breakin period, to allow the seals and such to seat. Also, about how much oil does it consume regularly. And just to start some discussion (god we need that in here) what are your favorite oils, ive always been a mobil one person, but ive thought about experimenting with royal purple.

The synth/mineral argument has went on forever. Personally I use mineral in my Rotary's and Synth in my piston engines, there's tons here who use synth in there rotary's with no issues. Seeing as cars like the vette ship with synthetic the break in thing, in my opinion is prolly BS, but it isn't going to hurt to put a couple mineral oil changes in it before you go synth.

i run dino oils on break in, and Amsoil 20-50 series 2000 after that in my rotary engines. OMP is removed on mine though.

i'm far from an officianado but i've always read that synths burn funny and tend to leave more carbon behind which is why they shouldnt be used in rotaries which use oil more frequently.
but if others are using it with no problems,
