Got to try out the Canzoomer ECU
#1
Only spent about 10 minutes tuning, but overall seems to be a very nice unit especially for the price. Easy to use, straight foward, datalogging, don't see where you can go wrong with it. For once a piggyback ecu I LIKE....
I'm sure I will be playing with it more in the future, I'll let you guys know how it goes..

On the rx8forum, the canzoomer is being supplanted by the Interceptor-X. The problem w/ the canzoomer is that all it can do is modify the MAF signal to the ECU, but not change the outputs. This results in the ECU eventually changing the LTFT's to match what it expects, thus negating all of your fuel tuning. This can be fixed by clearing the LTFM's every few weeks, but that's kind of ugly. The interceptor gives full control of fuel and spark, while letting the ECU go about its business thinking the car is still stock.

I was told it will only do that under 3500rpms?
Regardless I am going to be turbocharging an Rx-8 at the end of the month, and I was going to look at my ECU options.
Doesn't that X run a pretty penny?

Yeah, the X is pretty expensive, but its the best option out right now in terms of tuning. If you go turbo, its highly recommended. Some people have already seen very good gains on the Greddy kit over the emanage that it comes with.
AFAIK, open loop mode starts at 5.5k, but modifying the temp signal to the ECU will run open loop at lower rpms. The ECU is quite complex and has strategies to protect the engine should it think there is something amiss.
