Take it to just about any major name tire shop and they can normally charge AC's up for you... They can also figure out where the leak is for you. No sense in you charging it up if it's just gonna leak back out.

correct- AC does not just wear out, it leaks out.

I had original freon in my vert until we took the motor out of it, so find the leak first then bother with charging it up

So I think this is a pretty simple process of getting the canister and tube and letting it fill up...but I just wondered if you have a picture of where the tube is... I can look at my manual I suppose As far as I'm concerned it lasted for 5 years so unless the leak has gotten worse, I could handle it if it took a few years to leak out and I'll just refill it. I don't feel like spending time to find the leak. So any pics/help on the matter ?

from all I heard the AC was never great on those cars to begin with, so you migh think it "just" leaked out in the last few weeks or whatever, but maybe it leaked out quite rapidly.

Why would you not want to investigate the source of the leak?

Well to my disappointment... it turns out I should have done that. I filled er up...yea it was obvious where it was once I took a look under the hood. 5 min later it came rushing out of the engine bay so I have some kind of leak !! Yikes. Any known problem areas to check ? It looked like-looking at the engine from the front of the car- to be coming from down low on the left of the engine.

Thanks for the insight...

I would take it to a shop that has a leak detector, it's sniffer and will show them where the leak is. Have them recharge it, have them replace the drier as well (it should be like $25). A good a/c system should last for decades if properly maintained, if it has leaked out in a period of time like this you have issues somewhere.

i just had this problem. i found it on the right hand side of the engine bay. as you are at the front of the car you will see it just under the windscreen the point is on the pipes that go in to the dash. it was easy when i found it. make sure your ac controls are turned on full when filling. ps what a bender flamethrower is saying if you got to ask you should not be doing it !!!!!!!!!!
