78' RHD for Sale $1500
#1
Ok I finally have Pics for all to see. You can see my pics at: http://Photos.yahoo.com/Ratedx_7 and click on 78 RHD and if you want go ahead and click on 74' RX4 although it's been recently sold :-(
P.S. It has recently been brought to my attention that my 78' RHD is most likely suffering from a clogged CAT, and would run fine after it's been cleared out.
Here's the Ad I plan on running on eBay for the 78' RHD if it doesn't sell privately:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a sad... sad... day in Rich's garage, but it must be done!!! That's right it's time to unload my two prized possesions 78' RHD Rx7 and my Prestine 74' RX4 (RX4 on next auction) all with NO RESERVE... I must be losing my mind!!!!
So here's the story. I bought this prestine collectible via a local Rotary Guru back when I just had to have everything rare that was rotary. Carburated Turbo kits, Rx4 Coupe, Rotary Pickup truck, rare carbs, Rotary Bikes... well maybe not the bike, but you name it I probably owned it and still do. So the time has come to clear out my garage because as some of you wiser ones out there know... a clutter house = a clutter mind.. at least that has been my excuse all these years.
Ok back to the story. I bought this car from a local Rotary Guru for two unique reasons. 1) the obvious= RHD come on now, ya' knew that one. 2) working A/C. Yeah I know, it sounds corny but out of the dozen or so 1st gens I've owned this one is only the 2nd and last one in my possesion with a working A/C system... god I'm gonna' miss it.
So as I was saying, this car was my daily driver and it got me daily looks from other drivers. Speaking of which, who ever wins this car, should try this trick: Have a young child ie; 5-10 year old sit on the left side with his/her arm extended like they're driving and waving at other drivers or better yet, have a buddy sit on the left side and have him stick his head out the window (while the car is rolling) and act like he/she is sick and you the driver can safely swerve the car from side to side, or how about the time when I... on second thought let me stop right there and say that these are things I did and don't necessarily condone you have the same kind of childish fun, and therefore I'm not liable for what you may do, yadda... yadda.. yadda.
I haven't told ya' the story yet, have I? Ok here's what happened. As I had started to say earlier, this rare beauty was my daily driver... Oooh...Oooooh I just remembered something, for all you single guys and pseudo singles, this car works better then a cute dog... TRUST ME!!!!
So as I was saying, this was my daily driver until one day I ran the engine low on oil and.... ya' know how the story ended, there is no need for me to relive the pain. So a month later I pulled the locked engine out and swapped it with a another running engine of another RX7 I had.
Here's where it gets interesting. The replacement engine was running fine, in fact minutes before I pulled it, I had it burning rubber in the parking lot. Two nights later we get the engine in but we can't get it to stay running. In fact the only way we can get it to turn on is by pouring tranny fluid down the carb, it of course starts, smokes alot, and will only stay on if you keep the revs above 4K or so, and once it burns off the tranny fluid it dies. This may serve as a clue to you gurus out there but, the header glows red when running. We've tried running different carbs and still the same results.
Finally I ran out of time and patience and put it to the side as a future project. 3 years later that project is still staring at me and my family in the eyes every single day, and you know what?... it's time that somebody steps up and do what I haven't ...conduct more pranks?... no I mean bring this car back to the beauty it once was!!!
As you can see in the pics this car will need a bit of body work on the roof right above the driver. I don't know how that happened and I'm not sure if it's cracked sheet metal, bondo, or dried up paint. There are also a few quater sized surface rust here and there, but nothing to worry about.
The intereior is in good shape minus the dash on the passenger side. The rare factory rear seat is in mint shape along with the rear cargo screen which is in fair shape. The radio worked fine, although you may want to upgrade it to something a little more modern.
Oh....I almost forgot. The original tranny was pullled out in favor of an 83' model which means the original shifter sorrounds doesn't fit anymore (you can find them all day long at the local bone yard).
So there you have it. A rare beauty with lots of potential with a running engine that just needs trouble shooting and did I mention... WORKING A/C?

There was sure good times on that car. Rich, thanks for the compliment. A little more to Rich's RHD RX-7 is that is was brought from Japan by a Marine who was stationed there. Brought back to the States and it's had a few diehard Rotary owners. Some unusal features is the back seat, the overhead console and a few odd and ends. If I wasn't carred out, I would buy it back. As you can see I have enough cars.
Good Luck to the seller and future buyer.
