Custom Exhaust Made to Order
#1
Putting out a feeler here to see what kind of response is obtained...
I recently purchased a downpipe and cat-back exhaust system for my RX7. While quality pieces, these parts seemed a bit pricey for what you got. Upon arrival, myself and some family inspected these units and thought about fabricating some of our own exhaust components to sell to enthusiasts, like yourself, and the public alike. The offerings would consist of piping to the customer's specification in material, diameter and finish. Mufflers would also be of choice to the customer. For example, I liked the sound and look of the Borla XR-1 muffler, but it was not available in a prefabricated system, hence my not being able to buy it in cat-back form. All piping would be mandrel bent and modeled after proven exhausts. Fit and finish would be just as good as Brand X, but the price would be far more competitive. Turn around time from taking an order, to exhaust components shipping out would also be greatly reduced. Downpipes and midpipes would also be available.
The gentleman that would be building the systems, who is also my girlfriends father, has been in the automotive business all of his life and owns his own automotive company. He has proven his automotive skills in drag racing of auto and boat form ranging from Foot-Brake classes to Top Fuel, as well as restored and built many a show car.
At the present time, systems will only be available for the third generation RX7 due to us not having a first or second generation car to work with. Demand will have the say-so as to whether or not other models will be offered later on. The determining factor will be response from the forum and anyone else that may be interested in a made-to-order exhaust.
So, to sum things up here, we are considering offering a made-to-order exhaust of any piping, finish and muffler you may want. If you, the customer, wants a full 3" stainless steel exhaust system with a Borla XR-1 muffler, we can do that, or any other set-up you might desire, all with excellent fit and finish.
Let me know what you think guys and girls...
Thanks in advance.
