'88 Mazda B2200 truck --->13b
#1
Im in the process of putting a 13B into my 88 B2200 truck. Ill keep this updated as things progress, but it will be a little slow in the near future. Ive just got too many other things taking precedence.
Engine: 13B, mostly S5 parts but nothing is set in stone yet. I still have to finish the porting and decide which rotating assembly I want to use. Thats the next project, and Ill have more details on that before long.
Trans: S5 n/a, but I swapped the tailhousing for for truck one. Im putting together a how-to for that process, which Ill put up as soon as I can. This allowed me to use the stock driveshaft, trans mount, and shifter.
Engine mounts: fabricated by yours truly, and I will be selling these on my website. Expect pricing to be announced and the mounts listed on my site before the end of the week.
On to the pics! The complete gallery can be found here.
The clutch slave cylinder was a very tight fit, which required a new lower tie bar to allow the engine to sit low enough to provide enough clearance.
There is the lower tie bar installed with the engine sitting in its approximate location.
prototype drivers side mount
prototype pass side mount
mounts installed. the tie bar is absent here
engine mounted
I will be cutting the truck engine mount bosses off the frame for more clearance, but it is not necessary to fit the motor. You will just have to run headers, as the stock exhaust manifold will not clear those mount bosses.
Here is the engine mounts and tie bar. They will be sold together. Ill have all the details and ordering information available by the end of the week.

Very cool Adam! Let's make sure you finish this one all the way though.
yeah yeah yeah...
Unlike my rx7, Im actually going the reasonable route with this. And Ive already got almost everything I need to put it together. Youre gonna like the intake manifold though...

You just going to putt around town in it? I don't wanna guess the intake manifold though, I don't want to spoil anything. Good luck though.

what are you doing for a tranmission

The input shaft on my B2200 transmission was about 1/4" longer than the rx7 input shaft. I swapped the bellhousing to the rotary one, and after the trans wouldnt seat all the way on the engine, I measured the input shafts. I just went with the fc transmission then.
