1979 929 to 13B
#1
Hi am a new owner of a 1979 929 sedan with an 1800 motor in it, i picked the car up for $50 from my wife's mother who had it sitting in the backyard
and am wanting to do it up as it has next to no rust and is perfectly straight. But the prob is the motor has siezed and now i would like to do an engine
swap to a 13B rotary and also change gearbox as it is an auto and i prefer manual, any help or info as to what is needed to make this a smooth and easy
swap would be great and any suggestions as to what series motor and box would also be great.
Thanks Drew.

Wow. I didn't know the 929 even existed back in '79. I would think you'll need to do some fabrication regarding mounts and whatnot, since I don't believe this will be a popular swap, at least not here in the states. Hopefully, you will get some advice from someone more knowledgeable than myself!
Got any pics of the car? I'd love to see it!
Edit: Well, after doing a little reading, I see that although the 929 didn't come to the states until 1988, it started production in 1973! It was related to the rotary-powered Mazda Luce, so I would think you won't have too much trouble getting a rotary in there.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info i wasnt aware that they were only available over there in that model
as to the pics i will take some in next few days and try to post em here if i can work it out lol.
its nothing to look at at the moment but hopefully soon it will be with a new motor and some
nice rims and a paint job too, it has the outward snout and twin headlights looks different to the
early Rx-4's but still should be a head turner.
Anyway thanks again
