Remote oil filter, mounted on firewall in the engine bay.
Regarding the scattershield. If you look carefully at the photos, including the ones Jeff20B posted when I was using a Mazda RX-5 gearbox (now using Toyota Supra 5 speed as the engine ate both my RX5 boxes!!), you can see the braided hose is cabletied to the scattershield, and the pvot for the gear lever is attached to it.
Its just hard to see because its painted the same colour as the bellhousing.

The intermediate 'lunchbox' is hand made and packed with steel wool, which I bought at a hardware store, a bit like Scotchbrite.
That photo doesn't do the size of that rear muffler justice - its quite large, and is straight through a perforated stell tunnel.
The shifter in the original car had to be replaced because when the RX5 gearboxes started giving me trouble I snapped it one day in the heat of racing. The billet lever is much higher and easier to shift, and very solid.
Yes, its a 1968 Mazda R100 Coupe.
Cheers,
Peter
That car is an R100, right? That shifter left an impression on me back in '02, and I seem to recall it being in an R100. Nice muffler mount by the way.
