Thumbs up

Does anyone know or have experience removing the six port sleeves? I'm going to be taking my LIM off, and I want the most HP out of my '86 n/a engine, regardless of how it idles or low end torque. I have the RB header on it and 2 1/2" straight pipe back to a RB muffler ('79 chassis) no emissions crap, so the six ports are just wired wide open. Would it be benificial to remove them? I know pineapple make the ramps for the sleeves but is it worth it? or will i get the same air flow without the sleeves all together? I understand it won't be as smooth of air flow, how much does that matter though?

Thanks in advance for any help, or info

Pulling the sleeves is easy.Plus without the dashpots the appearence is nice too.I haven't tried it since I pulled them. But I hear wiring them open is the same effect as pulling the sleeves out.Its personal preference.

There'e more than double the amount of airflow area through the secondaries with the sleeves removed. Big time high RPM gains.

I ran without sleeves on my 88 for about 4 months and it was ok. There was good power above 4 grand. Below 4 grand it was doggy and would buck some. Last month I re-installed my sleeves with the pineapple inserts and they gave me back some low end. They also eliminated most all of the bucking which is cool. Overall my car is a daily driver and I like having the nice smooth powerband that comes with having the sleeves. I can't really tell if I lost any power with the sleeves back in, it feels pretty much the same to me.

For $50, I think the pineapple inserts are well worth it especially if you have the LIM off anyway. The air has to make almost a 90 degree turn through the stock sleeves & ports which just have terrible flow. If you take the sleeves out, you still have this roadblock for the air flow.
