aint that exhaust port made to spool turbos faster i have a few housings that have the same port and was told that type of port was for larger turbos also i thought you heat went up like crazy when you knocked the sleeves out is any of this true?
it spools turbos like crazy because the exhaust is still burning as it's introduced into the manifold and turbo. that's what anti lag is. but your bsfc is high and ve low w/ such an inefficient design. once the turbo is spooled you'll have less mid and top end hp than a motor w/ more complete combustion. and you still don't get any flow gains because the sleeve is still the bottleneck.

Could you advance your ignition that way it ignites sooner giving you a longer power stroke? im new to tuning so im not sure of the effects of this but just a thought

you're normal state of tune would theoretically already be as advanced as you could possibly run. if you advance it any further it would detonate. it would be easier to have a later closing port and use anti lag for spool than the other way around.

but then wont you have to much overlap? also what do you mean by "using antilag"?

anti-lag is an option in some EFI systems used for drag racing launching and rally car stuff. What it does is retard the timing by a jillion degrees and dump extra fuel in to create combustion in the exhaust manifold and turbine, used to pre-accelerate the turbocharger w/o any engine load.

Yep. The exhaust will go "pop pop pop pop pop!" real fast, shoot flames and smoke, and then 'zoom' the car will launch with gobs of boost.

Looks good man. What kind of power/torque are you expecting?
im trying to eventually make 600 or so hp at the wheels once the new turbo goes on. the car is still going to be street driven, but im not very concerned with low end power and driveability.

personally i think the exhaust port's too big. if you're gonna go that big just knock out the sleeve. you'll gain a ton of power, case the sleeve's your bottleneck right now. as it is you're just shortening your powerstroke unecessarily w/ such an early exhaust opening. you'd make more power w/ a smaller exhaust port if the sleeve is left in.
me and my engine builder think the exaust port is a lil too big too. i got these housings a few years ago with that exaust port already in them. im too cheap to buy new ones to change the port, so untill one of them gets damaged, im sticking with them

they're not as bad as you think tho. my last motor with a street port and these housings had great low end power and made impressive power under moterate boost.

im confident that this motor will meet my hp goals.

thanx for the comments...

brian, ito.... any thoughts?

Yeah, I think it'll work fine as long as the ports aren't opening drastically too early (this will reduce the time per ignition/power stroke for torque to be produced). Just remember to bevel the port closing timing of those things to accomodate for the apex seal moving over them per Ito's directions. I also vote for finish-sanding the port and the sleeve itself to partial mirror finish if you can.
