So I guess I didn't polish my rotor faces or ceramic coat my port runners on my last engine build. Do any of you master builders do this kind of thermal barrier type of thing to the combustion chamber components?

There are quite a few places that will do it. :sigh: I'll just have to remember to get it done if I ever build another motor. My current one is just an NA so it will be hard to blow it.

So what's a good coating to use? I would expect any improvements to be readily apparent at light loads when heat loss is greatest. I had a set of rotors coated and never noticed a difference anywhere (except that the bastards clamped the rotors too tight somehow and bent a couple of side seal grooves).

When you talk about polishing, are talking about sanding down all the ridges, and polishing like you do to the UIM, or is it something else?

I cut all my dishes to have the exact same timing and polished them and the rotor face so I could see my face. Dont know what its going to do but they do similar to pistion combustion dishes so thats why I did it. I should have the car up and running in a few days and will see if there is any difference then. I do know that any moisture will cause very slight surface rust when its this polished so oil it up right after your done. Also, be very carefull not to cut too deep.
