there was a topic on this a while ago i think, and it was basicly said that as long as the bowl (or whatever you wanna refer to it as) isnt comprimised, then compression isnt lost.. i think

Any time you increase the clearance volume in the chamber, the compression ratio drops. Clearance volume can be increased by milling the bowl, or the faces, it doesn't matter since it all affects the chamber just the same.
You could even decrease the compression ratio by sticking extra crush gaskets under the spark plugs. The difference would be extraordinarily minor, but still measurable.
The displacement is completely unaffected by the clearance volume. Displacement is swept volume, you are not changing the circumference of the rotor housing or the width of the rotor, so swept volume remains the same.
