I Want A 93-95 Rx-7, But......
#1
Hi,
I have been in the hunt of a "new" car. I have come to the wanting of a '03-'04 Mustang GT, or a 93-95 RX-7. But I have just started my research on the RX-7 (done enough on the GT already)...and I was wondering if you could maybe help me out. I expect the RX-7 to have at least 50k-100k miles on it and was wanting to build the engine to "like new" or even better. How much money would something like this cost and what route would someone recommend going? Also, the trany, what kind of replacement/rebuild on that would have to be done to make it like new again and cost?
I know, im lost when it comes to the RX-7, BUT...im reading as much as i can on it!!!

You can get a new motor from Mazda for about $2200. Expect to pay about $4000 for a motor and install though.
Rebuild the trans only if it really needs it. The only thing that really goes wrong is the 5th gear synchro goes out.
