Let me explain myself and reasoning a little better. Right now I have a S4 TII that I just got on the road about 3 weeks ago, after an extensive overhaul of just about everything. I orgianlly wanted a S5 NA but I could not find any close enough to me or anything that was worth the while to be shipped, which then this S4 TII popped up in the local newspaper. I am not a fan of turbos, ecspecially with rotaries, main reason: Why would the sole manufacturer of the Rotary not use it in there racing cars??? Because it is not as reliable as NA.
I had then thought about the RX8, the performance figures are decent, about what I would be looking for, but the car design could use some work, besides $30k is alittle out of my league right now. So then I came across making an NA FD. Plus I can actually work on the think the is the main reason for wanting to start another project, I am so board right now. So inshort I am want a NA FD with power figures better than an RX8 and close to stock Twin turbo setup...
Ok While at work toady I have thought it over a bit more.
If I am thinking correctly an 800-1k idle should be obtainable, heres why:
The peripheral ports will be controlled by both load and rpm, a voltage of some sort.
800-1k rpm Primarys used, Peripheral ports closed
Idle to 3k Slowly open throttle plates for P-port to closed to 1/4
3k-4k open throtle plates for P-ports from 1/4 to 1/2
4k-5k open throttle plates from 1/2-full
The load sensed will control at what rate the ports will open, much like how a wastegate acts but backwards, instead of closing it will open.

Should be very drivable.
There is no room in my heart for the RX-8. It is a stab at a market of yuppies that have kids and cannot admit that they should put the toys away and raise the kids.
After their full attention has been consumed for 18 or so years, buy the car (or build the car) you always wanted.
To me it looks like a Pontiac from the front, and a bigger version of the new VW bug from the side. I just cannot believe the people that swoon over that thing.
A bigger version of the 95 body style but with the new engine and gull wing doors, and a jump seat for the kids. Leave the 40 cubic foot Bose system out and give it some trunk space. If you need an AWOL bag to change clothes, its a one seat car.
Put in a Hotchkiss axel and scrap the IRS. Get the price down to S18,000 so a normal human could get a loan for it.
But the shape is just great. Just the price and lack of space killed it.

My RX8 6 speed sport was $26,000....well sticker was $28,300, but nobody is paying sticker anymore. If you have to have leather and all that sissy stuff then yeah they approach $30,000. Stock they are ok, with a $600 piggyback ecu they are much faster...very close to an FD...if the RX8 isn't your cup of tea then whatever....I just think it's going to be a bigger headache with a modded N/A FD project than just getting into a brand-new rotary and modify it. But do whatever you want...I'd like to see how this n/a FD project comes out....

I missed the part where the Pport is closed until higher RPM is attained. A big bunch of work, but quite doable. Put the Pport butterfly close to the engine.

Yeah deep down I feel it can be streetable just like any other RX7, its just gonna be loud, and lack low end power, although I am sure the low end power is going to be better with the p-ports opening at a slower rate because of the increased air velocity since only using the primary sideports.
I would like to have the throttle plates in the neck of the peripheral, but my only concern on engine decleration if there is any fuel that would get stuck behind the plate when the plate is closed. So right now I have thought of placing the plates at the top of the LIM right before the secondary fuel injectors.
I just hope I am happy with the power, I have seen quiet a few in the 280-300 rwhp area, which is prolly about 300-340 flywheel. If it is anywhere near there I am sure I will be. I just have such a headache thinking of all of this!!!

They have a Japanese person who can get any information about anything Rmagic does.
Then again I could ask them for you...
As far at Pports go I have only seen a handfull on the streets in Japan. Maybe 15 years ago people were using them as I have heard stories but seems a waste nowdays. There are a few people who are trying to max out the 2rotor and they will use P ports or cross ports just about anything. It sounds like you are gonna have a fun project.

Yeah the main thing I am looking for is something fun, yet challenging and this has both!
