Dumb Question

i recently had an engine apart and since i dont have a tq wrench i just put the nut back the way i found it, the hex pattern was on the flywheel and i just mached it back up. is this good? bad?

hmmmm.. You seem buff enough to put it back on snug.. but the mark can be misleading.. maybe under torque it may have taken a coule more turns.. but you should be okay.. till the flywheel shoots out of the tranny and cuts off your legs..

360 ft lb is what you need. But my suggestion is to buy a torque wrench. You without legs is not a lovely sight . Imagine having to drive your RX7 with hand controls . That should be enough to convince you that you should buy a torque wrench.

We used to do this with the Ford rear ends, they said when re-installing the same ring and pinion (say just doing bearings) to mark the nut, then turn about 1/8 inch past the mark and back it off to the mark. I dunno wtf that did, but that is the way we always did it LOL
