Today I've used the cnc-lathe again. Fun to learn, but very time consuming.
These are for the 4-link, and fit the RERS-4 rubber protection. I made these in stainless. Attachment 16010 Attachment 16011 Then I also turned a new mount for the rear coilovers. Really fun to turn threads in a cnc. They always look so good. M12x1.75 at one end, Ø12.75mm for the coilover, and then M20x1.5 in the other end. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1361041307 http://i815.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps6d6495d9.jpg Attachment 16012 Attachment 16013 Ofcource I was at the garage to try them out! Re: 4 Rotor Build in Sweden
Loving it man! I owned a few 244's and know how stable and the chassis is and they are great cars actually. I used to frequent Turbo Bricks ; ).
Btw, are you producing 4 rotor ecentric shafts and parts for sale? Or are you only making parts for your build? I think you could create a new market for RE builders who wish they "knew a guy" that makes 4 rotor parts, or kits. |

I only make the 4-rotor kit for myself at the moment. It would be fun to produce, but I see the 4-rotor pop up here and there, so I don't think it's an problem anymore...?
Have also bought me a set of rims that will come in handy in the future. BBS 19x9.25" Centerlocked Magnesium. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1362226962 |

Attachment 15983 First side Attachment 15984 Finished Attachment 15985 Attachment 15986 Now I will get this to a man who will help me with wire cutting. Will do some splines inside to fit the e-shaft. Will do with one spline loss, so it only can fit i one place. Will be better when its time for balancing. |

Some lack of motivation. Thought I would be going mad when the car dropped down on the floor, but thats not what happend.
Yesterday I drawed my new rims in SolidWorks. I really like to just sit there and relax and draw. I also checked out the weight of the rims. 8.08kg/each aren't bad for 19" I think. Attachment 15975 A little adapter as well. I want it as low as possible because the car isn't that wide. And I have long controller-arms. Maybe I will do some new wheelhubs as well :) https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1365852958 This is the digitalized BBS's I did. Today I have continued on the rotors.
Did some roughing on the outer contour. Still 1.25mm left. Will be around 3.9kg when done. Are you going to cut a groove for the side seals, or will that center piece act as a side seal?
|
Re: 4 Rotor Build in Sweden
There is a sideseal-groove between the center part and the outer rotor-shell.

I have weight them, but all the newer rotors have the same weight. The 28cc in the comb-chamber are kind of tricky to check, or? |

Bought standard lock rings, but couldn't let them be standard. Grinded them from 2.5 and 3mm with friendly tolerance to 2.00mm https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1385830236 The it was time for the grooves. Did them +0.03 to +0.05mm in height to get the right feeling. Moment of truth, or point of no return for these housings...
https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 The original "oil-nozzle" must be removed before milling or else my tool, or my housing will be broken. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 Started with a M10-bolt and drilled a Ø4.2mm hole to allign the drill. Threaded M5, and pulled it out with some washers and a M5-bolt. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 Machined a Ø63mm hole for the thread, and then removed all stuff the pointed out form the housing. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 All done. Next step is the inserts! https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398013782 |
Re: 4 Rotor Build in Sweden

Yesterday I continued with my Peripheral-inserts.
Because they are threaded into the housings there is imported to get the D-shape in the right angle to align with the pre-machined D-shape in the housings. The D-shape closest to the housing are bigger than the round hole and the runners, so therefore I need to machine this with the inserts on the side. I could have done a round hole in the center, and port the sleeves by hand. But I'm really not a "handyman" :) And CNC-port are in my opinion the coolest. It worked out pretty well! I was really nervous when I mounted the first insert... I very satisfied. Next is to deside how to couple the inserts with the runners, and also how my runners will look like, size and lenght. Butterfly-throttles or slides. https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398590259 https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398590259 https://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1398590259 |
