ClubFR.net will be hosting drift events this summer, even as early as April!!! ClubFR.net is a non-profit group that is simply in this for drift. We are possibly going to have the first event in Joliet, IL but this is not set in stone... yet! We are looking at around $50 for an event and even less if turnout is good. The turnout will also dictate how many events will be held this summer.
Specific dates have not been scheduled but will be soon. We are going to have a staff only event for practice to ensure that we take everything into account to make it a more enjoyable experience and mostly, TO MAXIMZE SEAT TIME FOR EVERYONE!!! Many on ClubFR.net went to the last Minnesota meet to find that they could only get one maybe two runs the entire day. We at ClubFR want to minimize this. This is for each individual driver not for the group's benefit as we are non-profit. In the event that more money is made than was needed for the event, the money will go to the next event i.e. lower entrance fee, better tracks, etc.
We are also looking into getting instructors out there to help the beginers. Helmet rentals will also probably be available and we will have food vendors out there. If all goes to plan, this should be a GREAT experince for everyone!
We will probably be making a video at the staff event to give everyone an idea as to what should be expected and we will try to get a few of the cars from ClubFR to local shows to further get the word out and to show what direction we want this all to go.
Please check out ClubFR.net for more information and to possibly meet some of the people involved and don't be intimidated, this is still a small group and we welcome everyone. It is still slow in the forum as the weather is drag on the drifting right now but expect it to pick up fast, very soon! I will post news on this forum as to what's new in the Mid-West for drifting but by all means still check out ClubFR.net.
I would like to see more rotaries out there as now it's mostly a bunch of hachis and 240s. Everyone, however, is welcome to join. You don't even have to be FR.
There should be more information available when this gets rolling at local shops. If you have a chance stop by Touge Factory in Northbrook, IL. It is mainly a 240 shop but they do much more.
I hope to see you sideways at the next event. And please don't forget to check out ClubFR.net.
