Puerto Rico and the rotary community mourns the loss of David "Turbo" Fernandez. David Turbo enjoyed an excellent reputation as a rotary performance icon, a pioneer in the combining of turbocharging and electronic fuel injection on the rotary engine in drag cars in P.R. He was regarded as a fearless driver that could trailer an opponent with a holeshot at any time. The team of Sarito Maysonet (engines) And David Turbo (programming and or driving) gave brith to many successful projects over the years.

The Sammy Promotions Paseo of Orlando Torres was the most successful with a 7.61 @ 176 mph. The Papote Rx-3 (8.20 @ 164) and Wicho Time RX-7 (8.15 @ 166) of Gary Maysonet, the Wankel RX-3 (7.98 @ 174), the Quiles Turbo Starlet (7.89 @ 169) are some of the more famous David and Sarito projects. David Turbo programmed the Haltechs on all these cars. Davids personal car El Natalie (71 Datsun 1200 3/4 chassis)

rocketed to a 7.84 @ 178 mph, a record for a 3/4 car that has stood for years. David Fernandez will live forever in Puerto Rican and rotary drag racing history. I personally will remember him as a hero that did it all. David was a down to earth good guy.

R.I.P. David Turbo.

Hey Bro,

I got the feeling that you are a Boricua too...

Do you know what Sarito is going to do now?

I mean who's going to program his engines?

Greetings

I don't know. My "right hand" lost his number when his cell crapped out. Right now, in my opinion Jorge"Oso" Juarbe is the most successful tuner on the scene. The combination of Falito Performance and Oso on the computer have produced excellent results lately. For example, Falito @ 7.4, Atrevida @ 7.8 and Cesar Febus 7.6, Lazcano @ 7.1. Orlando Torres (sammy promotion) has never lowered his low et. from 7.61 set at the Pan American Race of Champions in 2002. I would expect to see more from him in the future. The Sarito RX-3 should be capable of a 7.8 as Gary matures in the seat. Sarito is a king maker I think he will be a player for years to come. Burn the fever Bro!
