Talking

Ok as of now I have more looks then go-go goodies. Reason being is I believe why fix what is not broke(especially in the FD). Except for commen reliabillity mods, there has been no reason to do motor work yet.

BUT, and a big one it is(not mine you perv) I know down the road im going to need to do the motor etc....

I do my daily reading of the different setups peeps have done, or are experamenting with, but it gets confusing after awhile. Just cant keep up with what they are saying.

I am also the type of person to buy things if I see them at a good price, but i dont know what to buy cause I am not sure if I want to stay twin, or go single.

In this thread please give your full opinion on what set up you prefer.

Now just dont give the brand and type of turbo. If you can give full detail as to why you have it, or want it. Best spool up, best power, reliability etc.

This will help me out a lot, but will also give the newbies a chance to learn the differences between the turbo set ups.

The more detail you give, the better. Dont forget though, some people may be turbo dumb and may not get some of the terms you use, so use good explanations.

Even if a set up is not in the poll section(i just put that there for fun) and there is another one you want to mention about, do so.

This also aids in the type of IC a person will get because we know some wont work with certain set ups.

Hopefully by this I can start up my savings for the setup i decide to go with.

In case your wondering i do like the idea of faster spool up and lower power the twins give you.

Thanx, Cheers

Shawn

It all depends on what YOU want. For an all out tube chassis race car then 2 good sized singles would be the ticket. For a street/track car big single would be best in my opinion. For a daily driver twins are the way to go. The overall cost of twins is cheaper and they have a nice powerband.

I personally don't like the upgraded twins, due to the massive heat and small turbos. Thats my opinion though.

I would say single, just for the fact that it's a simple system, not so much **** to go wrong.

I know it depends on what I want.....but i dont know because I am still figuring out the differences.

This is not a daily driver, just weekends. So you can understand the type of driving that can be expected.

Ok so with these two opinions so far...what type of set up are you talkin about(brand)?

That all depends on cash flow. My car is in the same boat as yours. I'm going big single, but I have very high expectations. As far as brand whatever you want. They are pretty much all the same.

If you're looking for high hp (400+) you'll probably be better off with a single turbo. Depending on how much hp your goal is, depends on how big of a turbo.. usually the bigger the turbo..the more turbo lag you'll get.. so, if you don't mind the lag, which varies from turbo to turbo, you should be satisfied.. If someone that likes the sudden burst of power.. a twin turbo set up may be more for you.. the '99 RZ twins are suppose to have a quicker spool up rate compated to the '93-95's. But I don't think you'll see that much improvement vs. the '93-95 turbos when it comes to hp. The BNR/M2 twins are overall neck-n-neck.. Each company claims about a 350-400 hp in their expectations, but I personally have never eccountered a dyno sheet from one of them.. It's all preferance, but maybe that'll help you out..

What do YOU want? Mabye we can help you when we know that.
I did mention in the original post that i like the idea of quick spool up and no lag. I like being able to pull on highway speeds( i also ride motorcycle so i like top end) but yet need that "light to light" quickness.

This is also a post to clairify the differences between the set ups and between different types of turbos(ball bearing, liquid cooled etc)

while my car was down i was originally going to reuse the stock turbos instead i sold them and purchased the T78 and everything else. it is one of the best things i have done. reliable boost control, more power, cooler underhood temps, better reliability, what more could you ask for ???

So what else made you decide to go single?

Who makes the T78 and why did you choose it?

78 means the size of the snail or the acctuall spool?

what is the difference between it and other singles to consider?

What becomes of your turbo lag now that you are single?

T78 is a mix of the TD07 and the TD08, thats how it gets its name.
