I just got a PRISTINE 88 RX7 convertible. ice blue, black top, blue interior, 58K orig. miles, its excellent. Im a owner of a Buick turbo T, and a Buick GS. the T runs 12s(11s next time out i think) and the GS is restored to stock. but back to the RX7. I want to know if theres anything i can do thats free or low cost. to the motor, for more power. im gonna go with a cone K&N filter on the intake, box it in so it gets cold air, and then im gonna remove the ACV, hook up the sixports to the airpump, and then gut my precats, and main cat. i want to get good low end torque though, so i want to put on a valve where the maincat is, that stays pretty much closed for high backpressure until about 4K rpm. hows this sound? what else can i do? maybe tweak the fuel pressure or somethin, if adjustable. or pull out some restrictions in the intake tract somewhere, do somethin with the ignition timing, im up for anything that is free and doesnt require pullin the motor. thanks guys, im sure this has been asked before, but dont flame me about it : )

i dont think theres such a thing as free horsepower unless you disconnect your exhaust system and strip the car to the shell ohh and disconnect your acessories but other than that your gonna have to spend money

Your best bet would be to sell the 7, now cause let me tell you,

nothing on these cars are cheap, hell even the spark plugs are

around $10.00 each.

Recipe for free hp:

1. Put a pair of visegrips on your return fuel line (don't overcramp it), This will raise your fuel pressure a few PSI.

2. Remove the top half of the air filter box and bungie the air filter in so it doesn't come out.

3. Get a hacksaw and but off your exhaust system.

Guaranteed to give you a 10-15% more power.

Now more seriously... I would get a BONZ pipe (RX7.COM) get a K&N Air Cleaner or simular high flowing air cleaner. Leave your airpump and AFC alone, Using the airpump trick is only for people that don't have enough exhaust pressure to open them. I can assure you, you have enough exhaust pressure to open them..... If you didn't rule #3 above would apply... and you neighbors would love ya.

I would also leave your CATS alone... I'm going to put one on my car as the exhaust really stinks. To the point that it will burn your eyes. You need those cats to keep it livable, especially in a convertable.

Good Luck

Check the FAQ section. There are some how-to cheap/free mods in there. Unfortunately, they aren't going to net you a lot of HP since you have an NA. But if you're just dying to do something, they will give you results. I would start with the Throttle body mod. this will increase your airflow some.

Check the FAQ section...I did an entire writeup so we wouldn't have to answer this question that often, lol if you have any questions about the writeup, PM me.

How about gut the cats for free, then replace that stock intake box with a open k&n filter that draws air in from out side. If you can do that yourself all you'll have to buy is a filter.

Get some real good rubber, that does more than anything but its not free.

I have no idea how much hp that will add
