Hks Down Pipe
#3
I bought a SS DP, no name off ebay. Pain in the *** to install, but made a difference! I ended up having to think somthing up for stud replacements, the studs wouldn't fit back in the holes! Anyhow, if you need guidance on the install let us know. Oh, and from what I hear, HKS is one of the easiest to fit.

Well i supposedly got an HKS SS DP from Airlu on the board about a month ago, and in my opinon; it sucks *****. If HKS really made a DP like this i have got to say i am disapointed. Only three of the four bolts can be bolted on. The fourth is so close to the pipe that there is no way to get a nut on there. plus if you use the stock stud it actually hits part of the pipe. In fact the forth hole in the DP is drilled at an angle leading me to believe that you have to drill out and retap a new stud if you plan to use that forth bolt. It is absolutly ridiculous.
My 30 min DP install turned into a three day event of pulling the turbos so we could replace the broken studs. We ended up trying to bend the stud for the forth bolt and it broke. Guess i am just venting and pissed off.

The HKS DP is mild steel. I've seen other company's make a similar looking DP in SS but not HKS. Mine had like a socket wall around one of the holes which I dremeled away. I still had to use one aftermarket hex bolt since I couldn't fit the tapered nut. The gains are less back pressure and if you heat coat it, then also less engine bay heat.
The stud that is blocked by the downpipe? Maybe you're talking about the one hole that I dremeled. Use three OEM studs and nuts and one hex bolt for the 4th hole.
