I'm coming home last night and I stop at a light. Next thing you know, my car dies... I try starting her up but no luck. Pop the hood, I see white smoke coming from the HKS ignition amp unit.

Question...

1.) I'm suspecting it came from a short, else, how else could I blow the unit? So... could carbon build up on my spark plugs cause a short thus blowing the unit or could it be a faulty install? (KDR installed it for me.)

2.) I think I should be OK running the car, though I'd run a bit lean... Right??? (Turned down the boost just in case...)

it should run fine without it..... maybe a bad ground.... could be many things. first of all disconnect the unit and contact whoever you bought it from and get a new one....smoking electronics........well smoking anything is bad

Did you pull the spark plugs to look? It shouldn't take any time to do this, so get to it
