Air/liquid Vs Air/air Fmic

Hi, I am thinking about installing an A/L fmic. What are the pros and cons performance wise with the 2? (a/l, a/a) I know about the maintenance for the a/l fmic. I would like to get opinions on the good and bad with each. If any of you have an A/L fmic... how do you like it, is it worth it? Also, wouldnt the a/l be a good idea for the rotory because of how hot it runs? So opinions would be great!

not quite sure if you plan on tappin into the current cooling system..
but drawback with liquid cooled is the weight and..
the volume of space taken up if you were to add a new recirc cooling system specific to the liquid cooled ic..
which means..an additional pump..an extra rad for it..lines...etc..
heat transfer is not immediate in comparison with air cooled...
and maintenance is greater..

i would not use a water to liquid intercooler on the street. the water will heat up rapidly and you will have to stop at a gas station for a refill, lol. they are only really ideal for drag cars. for a street car i would stick with air to air

you ever put ur hand inside an intake manifold when the car has been driving for a couple hours
me neither, but im sure ur hand wouldnt survive, water wont either

there really isnt a point in putting an A/L "front" mount intercooler, those intercoolers are not pourous, so air wont go through it and will just kill your radiator. there have already been debates whether to put a front mount or stock mount A/A intercoolers cuz of possible heat soak. i dont think its advisable to have A/L if you're gunna use your car for purposes other than the Drag strips.

Water to air IC don't run out of water and they don't need to be front mounted. The heat exchanger on the water to air must be front mounted just like a radiator. The benefits to w/a is that is cools much better than a/a. A w/a IC would be fine on the street if your tank was large enough. When you are on the boost you will be heating the water and the w/a IC will lose efficiency. The trick is getting a large enough heat exchanger so you can cool the water faster than you can heat it. If you are only on the boost for a few seconds at a time your fine has the water will cool when you not on the boost. For track applications some people add cooling units to the water tank. w/a is most suited for drag racing has you can use a little tank full of ice water and don't need a heat exchanger. You just need a tank large enough so you don't recycle the hot water back through the IC. In drag racing you are only talking a few second, so it's not a big deal. Next run you just replace the hot water with more ice water.
The only reason I would run a water to air IC on a street car is if there wasn't enough space for a large a/a IC. It's just more parts that could break and wear out.
