well sti's are really fast on the start. At higher speeds all that moving drivetrain really takes it's toll. Take 300hp take off 30% now you're at 210. Even if you estimate high you're looking at 240. If you're car put over 300hp on a dyno then you're looking at 320 or so at speed (if the weather is right) and not lower than 280. As long as you have traction you could win. Also, if the sti was an auto there goes even more hp.

And the jetta... if it was a VR6 i'm not surprised. A stock VR6 will run 14's easy, and with minor mods well into the 13's. A friend of mine used to own a VR6 that ran mig-high 12's on a fully california street legal car. In case you didn't know that's hard for almost any jap car to do. (also keep in mind no slicks. These are all season tred)

Keep the kills coming.

heh...heh....

my buddy had a crx that ran low 13s (he still has it, but darn cops made his see the ref. now it's all legal and slow) and he kept beating anyone he met on the street. So he started street racing out in san francisco and got his ass handed to him on a gold platter. I saw 800hp+ machines get eaten alive out there. Ouch...

stock vr jettas runs about a 16.10 stock. it was probobly a turbo v/r or a s/c one.i doubt an all motor vr jetta could keep up jettas are heavy.

Reallllly strange o see an all motor vr is all. speaking of which i might be trading my 85 GTI for an mk3 drivers edition vr6 golf.
