I am not 100% sure on who is making the engine, has Jeep ever had diesel engines out before now?

I want a Wrangler now, they are way too much fun.

Hmm, it has to be Mercedes making it now. Hell, the 6 speeds in the new wranglers are Mercedes, the Crossfire is built on the AMG platform, the 300C is Mercedes.

This is why Chrysler and Mercedes joined. Mercedes had a good product, and chrysler had that time where the powertrain was failing. The new 2006 300's don't have the 7year/70k powertrain warranty anymore.

Is that the baby Hummer thing? Not my area of expertise as the only Jeep's/Hummers we have over here are Cherokee's and they're pretty rare. I'm almost certain as Tyson says, that they come with a diesel which IIRC is American sourced.

strangely enough the standard transmission in the H3 is a 5 speed manual. whats up with that? are they gonna start offering those in the envoy/trailblazer/ranier/ascender?

A six speed trans is standard in a wrangler, and the 4-speed auto is optional equipment. go figure.

There were a few Diesel Jeeps sold in the states in the '80's, but most were sold in Europe or Canada. The engine was a 2.0 Liter turbo by Renault. The Cherokee and maybe Grand Cherokee was available in Europe throughout the 90's with a Diesel as well.

I actually kinda like that Gladiator. Surprising, since I really don't care for the other new Jeep designs(Liberty and New Grand Cherokee). My 2nd vehicle is a '96 Cherokee.
