ok i have a 91 fc, non turbo.. pretty much bone stock.

I only seem to have this problem when its very wet outside, and/or raining... but even then its a intermitent issue.

with all driving lights off, when the brake pedal is depressed the display on my stereo blinks off.

with just marker lights on, when the brake pedal is depressed, same thing for display of stereo, sometimes power will be interrupted competely and shut off the stereo, the dash lights blink, and then are dimmed until the brake pedal is released.

Raising the lights from the down position with marker lights on causes all lights to blink off, each other component I turn on (rear defrost) dims the lights, holding the brake pedal down dims the lights.

I had this problem a while back, and it went away only a little while after i noticed it.

But this morning it was around all day long, and when i finnally got home, it went away. So what gives?

Am i looking at a bad alternator/alternator belt, battery, bad battery cable connections, bad fuses mabye?

Water getting into wiring somewhere on the car?

your ideas and thoughts would be helpful

Thanks,

Tom

almost all intemittent 7 problems trace back to bad grounds, it seems. clean and tighten all the grounds you can find. if it doesn't work, at least it didnt cost much!!!

I would go with the ground problem myself. It happened to me almost a month ago. When I stepped on the brake pedal, my volt meter would drop from 14 volts down to 10 in a instant. It would cause the CD player to skip and messed with the turn signals. It first only happened every once in awhile but eventually got worse. It was caused by the wire moving around making contact with another then moving again. Check back by the spare tire and the rear lights where they are most exposed.

Ok thanks.

I'm looking at putting in an FD (93+ rx7) Alternator in as an upgrade, what modifications need to be made to make the alt work/mount in the 91 NA FC?

I did some checking, but there was not much detail.

A "custom" pulley and/or modify the plug so it will connect to the wiring.

Can anyone elaborate that has already done this sort of thing?

Where can I find these custom pullies?

Thanks

check the back tail lights, u might have a slight leak around the frames for the tail lights that was what happened to me a wile back. i had a small hole in the tail lights frame and i took care of the hole and it never happened again. check all around the frames and also the head light area.. also check all ground wires.
