so i spend the day fixing the TII door so it locks and the window goes up and down, throw the gxl tire and wheel in the back to give to hal, and take off for olympia at 3:30. got a call from mt peak, and he has my motor torn down and asked if i wanted to take a look at it. i decide to go 90 swing down 18 and run through enumclaw on the way to oly. I'm running about 80-90 with a cadillac cts driving a little faster than the semi's, and all of a sudden I loose power, I drop to the right lane and run about 60 for a while, the engine is still hmmming along, just sudden bouts of no power.... engine finally dies and i drive it over to the shoulder. It is like a fuel starvation problem. the car will start, but wont take any throttle.

i give up and call AAA for a tow. since i wasnt doing anything, i called my kid, who had been home for spring break and was the last to drive the car, was going to ask him if it had acted funny. I told him to fill the car when he took it out.... turns out he didnt, and I am just fn out of gas! (fuel gauge doesnt work)

i had tried to fill the car before i left yak city, but the auto shut off just kept kicking the nozzle off. the tow truck guy ran me through another station, and the flipping thing still wouldnt fill. guess there is an obstruction in the filler neck (dead rat?)

anyway, that is why i did not make it to izzys, had to eat a ham sandwich, and got to spend 2 hrs in the tow truck with an ex cle elum cop (actually, it was a pretty good time- i have had much worse)

aybody got any ideas why a 7 suddenly wont take any fuel into the gas tank?

ps

hal, got your gxl wheel if you want it, I'll be on the coast on sunday.....

Those gas tanks have emissions equipment on them. The reason (especially on new cars) you are not supposed to top off is because the type of valve to vent fumes into the charcoal canister gets closed. When that valve closes it doesn't let vapors out except through the filler tube. That causes the auto shut off of the pump to not allow you to fill your tank up. It sounds weird but that was just some useless (I though) information I got at a seminar I took. So if it was possible that your tank was "topped off" at its last fill up that could be causing your ploblem so maybe you could pop the trunk and thump on the top of the tank or maybe you will have to bend over for the dealership. Hope your problem gets resolved quickly and hopefully cheaply.
