i bought myself an 88 SE today for $150, car is red, grey interior, and has 186K on it, 17" konig wheels (9/10), K&N intake, high flow cat, and front strut tower bar, along with an alpine 75wx4ch amp running 4 infinity speakers, car blows a little white smoke on start up, the guy i bought it from thought that it was a coolant leak, but when i looked at the car i smelled the exaust, and its smelled RICH RICH RICH RICH RICH, temperature wise the car does fine, temp guage was in the middle excpept over snoqualmi when it dropped to about 1/3 the way up (snowing)... anyways, everytime i turn the car off, let it sit for a minute or two... and then go to start it back up its flooded... i pull the injector fuse, turn the car over a couple times (note, the cars exaust puts out the same amount of white smoke, smells like fuel, but burns the eyes and causes coughing), put the fuse back in, and it starts up... other than that, its an awesome car, i have an s-afc i plan on throwing in tomorrow, and messing around with... any suggestions, any possibility that the afc could correct fuel problem, or if there is something i should do to the motor to fix it, suggestions would be a good help, thanks, hopefully have pics tomorrow...

No. The SAFC wont fix it. The injctors are leaking. Its common.

You can either replace the injectors or put a switch inline to turn the fuel pump on and off from the drivers seat.

Hope that helps

well theres a few things it can be

1. leaky injectors

2. low compression ( not like blown motor low, but just a worn out motor)

both common on a high milage engine

then the 3rd can be a simple vac leak, or some sensor not working quite right

damn good deal... you rob the guy or something? LOL! Hope you get it sorted out... With the money you saved buying it you may even consider a rebuild. I would recomend pulling the plugs and doing at least the ghetto compresison test to al leat find out condition of engine. Either way you got a good deal... It runs!
