I went to 2 shops yesterday. The first was just a local place I decided to drop in on and get an idea. When I walked in, the painter and workers were playing some video games and goofing off - not too busy. He looked at it for about 2 min and said $2k, maybe a little more. He only does base/clear. I wasn't too impressed.

The second shop was the one I had made an appointment with and meet the owner/painter. The guy came out and looked over EVERY part of the car for about 30 min. Then asked me a bunch of questions about what I wanted. He gave me an estimate of $2500 to finish the body work, paint interior, engine compartment & roll cage(white), and exterior (CYM) with white stripe. He then disappeared and brought out his "brag book" of pictures of cars he had painted. It was very obvious that he was proud of all his work and took time to do it right. His shop is on his own property (20+ acers) with his house on top of the hill - so he is not going to be "fly-by-night". He said it could be done in about 2 weeks after I drop it off and the car would stay inside the whole time. Oh, and he uses a urathane paint that would be easier to fix if I chip, or crack anything

His shop just gave me the right feeling, but how does the price compare? I wish I could do better body work but I'm not a body man - I just know what I want but not sure how to do it that well.

What do you think?

That is pretty wicked looking! What is powering the car? Rotory?

If it was only set up for drag, It could be put together to only weigh about 1000 lbs. with a tube frame. With a few hundred Hp, it would be awsome!

I'd have to agree with Dave... bargain paint jobs are for when you're trying to get a car off your hands, not for your baby, the couple extra $100 will probably pay off in the long run, plus it's always better to work with someone who loves his work and takes great pride in it that some jackass who's only goal is another paycheck.

Anyway... car is looking sweet... are we going to be seeing you and the car anytime soon? like rotorfest? or Roy's BBQ?
