Summit Point This Weekend
#1
here is a copy of the mscw outlining what they have decided to do for this weekend. I'm planning on heading out at 7 or 8am on sunday morning and coming back in the late afternoon. Most likely leaving from Annandale VA, if anyone else still wants to go, post here. George is heading up on saturday and David is going up sunday with me. Right now we've got two cars in our "caravan" heading down sunday monring, lets roll in style
"The Rotary and Roadster Car Exposition has slid one day from
Saturday to
Sunday, June 15, 2003, starting at 11:00 AM, Jefferson Circuit,
Summit
Point
Motorsports Park, WV. We are exercising the rain date option
early due to
facility
services, weather forecast and SCCA MARRS finals on Sunday.
Weekend activities include:
-- RnR Car Expo, Mazda car show (Sunday only 10:00-2:00 PM),
judging from
11:00 to 1:00 PM, awards and prizes around 2:00
-- 2-day high-speed drivers education track event and skid pad
exercises,
-- Parade laps, "Racing for Reading" charity event $20, Sunday
only drive
both the Jefferson Circuit and Summit Point main track at lunch,
arrive by
11:30
AM
-- See the SCCA Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series final races on
the main
track. Many SPEC Miata and RX-7 members will be competing in
this SCCA
racing
event.
-- A few lucky participants will get rides in new Mazda 6
vehicles
-- Saturday evening get together at the Texas Steakhouse in
Winchester,
VA,
20 minutes from Summit Point Motorsports Park on I-81 and Rt 50
-- most participants are staying at the Travelodge in
Winchester, VA
All interested parties need to mention that they are with the
"Mazda Club"
at
the main gate and proceed to the Jefferson Circuit. Failure to
identify
yourself as being with Mazda could result in a request to pay
the $25
entrance
fee. Rotary and Roadster Car Expo participants and visitors do
not need
to pay.
Politely identify yourself to the gate workers.
Paddock activities other than the Drivers School and car show
are informal
in
nature. Not wanting to mislead anyone; there are no other
formal paddock
and
evening activities, nor are we expecting crowds and Mazda
vehicles to
number
in the hundreds as in the past.
Additional details and directions are posted at www.MSCW.com"
