My Name's Tyler and I'm from Lincoln Nebraska. I currently drive a 2002 cougar XR but have it at the body shop getting ready to sell. I have looked very strongly into getting late model RX-7. They have always been my available dream car and now that I have saved up a while I will be able to get one. I am new to mazda's so if anybody has any helpful information I would appreciate it!

I know a lot of people get upset when people ask questions aksing certain things about forum topics w/o searching. I am part of the stree scene in lincoln so I know how things go. I have recently found out that being new to a site makes things difficult to navigate. Would somebody direct me to a topic that explains the difference between the FB FC or the FD. Thanks

I suck at searching, and most folks won't bug you about starting a new topic. But I'll try my best here.

This is a very general explanation, I'm not the expert. I may be a year off.

FB is the 1st generation RX-7, not sure what year they started, 1978? made until 1985.

FC is the 2nd generation RX-7, from 1986 until 1991, I think. Included the TII (single turbo), and the convertible.

FD is the 3rd generation, all twin turbo, from 1992 until 1995 in the US I believe, I think it went until 2002 in Japan.

For more details about each car and possibly more correct answers, check out the generation-specific forums.

there was NO SINGLE TURBO FD available from the factory,

usdm models were 255hp twin turbo

some later models IN japan had 265 (same turbos as usdm) and ,285 hp. with different twin turbos.

Alright just that brief information was a lot of help. I am looking for a FD around but they pose to be very difficult to find as you all know. N/A would deff. be the way for me to go as of now and I have done my research in the maintenance that they are going to take to keep up with. I will check the classified section but do you guys happen to know of any around for sale at a reasonable price?
