Hey everyone, my name is Josh. New to the site, and to rotaries as well, so I figured I'll introduce myself.

I'm starting college next year and decided to take on a summer project for me to drive, so I hunted down a dream car of mine-a black 1990 RX7 convertible 5 speed. It has small issues, like all 20 year old cars, but that's why I bought it. What better way to learn about the car than to go through it inch by inch and fix what's wrong? I've always been into imports, my first car being a 1990 CRX (B18A1 swap, full race suspension, roll bar, 5-pt harnesses, Konig wheels, etc.) that I sold last summer. After driving a slow S10 for a while, I missed the speed and especially driving stick. So I hunted down the FC, and now I want to know all I can about it. Every google search I've done has brought me to this site, so I figured I'd join and learn what's what. I'll be posting again soon, thanks for reading.

As of right now, I've hunted down and fixed:

-Front brake pads/rotors shot-replaced with factory parts (for now).

-Exhaust shot from cat flange back-installed Racing Beat cat back with Magnaflow cat (sounds AMAZING)

-Common "Add Coolant" buzz issue, replaced level sensor and checked all hoses, not low on coolant at all, annoyingly intermittent buzz-bought whole parts/donor car with BRAND NEW 10k mile 13B, am DETERMINED to hunt down and fix buzz once and for all, even if it means an engine swap because of blown seals in the motor (although it runs perfectly, no smoke, no leaking coolant anywhere, no troubles with anything at all except the buzzer going off randomly)

-Window motors and regulators shot-forked over $800 to Mazdatrix for OEM replacements, track and all

-Wiper switch only has "low" speed, like most do-donor car has same issue, going to send off to get repaired while I use the current one if necessary

-Chafed group of wires by wiper fluid reservoir, turned out to be fluid sprayer wires-patched and now have window washer sprayers :-)

-General tune up done with exception of rear brakes-oil, plugs and wires (factory ones were still on car, took 3 hours to break them all loose and replace them, incredible headache), coolant stuff, very thorough cleaning, new odds and ends-dash vents, wiper blades, blah blah blah

-CD player skips constantly and antenna refuses to go up or down

Overall, nothing I can't handle, just time and money consuming. I'll try and get some pics up as soon as possible of mine, and the donor as well, as I may be parting the donor out even further to try and recoup some of the money I put into it, just to maybe put me a little ahead.

Projects to come:

-Various parts swapping from donor car to mine including- idiot cluster surround, passenger door handle surround (interior), driver dash vent, instrument cluster (broken tach needle and theory about coolant buzzer unit behind cluster), possible engine part swaps (air pump and ac unit on mine are a bit tired and rusted, they worry me a bit)

-Fix small top leak, however I can

-Finish overall mechanical touch up

-Get to work on "Show" part of the project as I work on some "Go" as well (exhaust was first step)

-Long down the road-full paint job, new speakers/head unit. No subs in this car, too much weight and casts a bad image on the car. Plus I don't need thieves looking for more reasons to break into my car.

That's all I can think of for now, maybe soon I'll start a build thread or at least keep an updated thread with pics, after all, a thread is useless without pics.

More to come, Josh.
