Speedo maxed out!
#4
Now that i think about it, i maxed the speedo on my karman ghia too. It either goe to 80 or 90. All i know is that i was trying to catch up with some friends. And then they had to catch up to me, cause i couldnt stop. hehe.
not bad for a 1.3 boxer engine 40 yrs old. Just dont ask how long it took me to get to 90.

I believe all 3rd gen speedos go up to 160, and all 2nd gen speedos go up to 140. I am not sure, but I think the 85 mph speedo was used up until 82, or 83, and then changed to one that went further. I just call it "mystery speed" after 85 mph.

I can't speak for all 2nd gens, but the speedometer in mine goes to 160...
This brings up two interesting questions that I'd like to ask:
1) Does anybody know where to get JDM gauge faces, I prefer km to miles
2) Wasn't the top speed on the FDs in the states capped to 165 or something like that? I thought I remembered reading something about this.
Thanks!
