We also have a team like this. They hang out down town to catch the unsuspecting victims.

Their are also a few smaller towns that participate in "Beat the Heat" Competitions where anybody can race a police car at the drag strip. I don't think they do it anymore in our area though

those camaro cop cars arent supercharged joe.. they are a package called B4RC or some ****.. like someone else said, its jut mild intake/exhaust work. Ford sells crown vic's in a "police interceptor" package. And they arent supercharged.. but i assure you.. NONE of them are supercharged.. i know this because my brother in law is HPD and he drives one of those camaros. I even ran him on 59 near humble..

to those who want to argue:

the reason they don't supercharge is because they want their engines to be as reliable as possible, and we all know that any kind of forced induction can cause issues.

Atlanta has a Viper interceptor. Can't remember if the lights were on top or mounted in the roof.. but it was pretty amazing to watch scream down the interstate. What a job that guy has.

I think the entire Florida Highway Patrol is switching to camaros, judging by the fact that the camaros are all I ever see of the FHP.

And I think the TPD had a viper with some funky paint job, like for D.A.R.E. or something.

Once the car is sold the the local PD they can do whatever they want with it. It belongs to them.

The Camaros crack me up. They buy one to get a litttle more speed than the normal cruiser, yet the ones I've seen have a full light bar strapped to the roof. Has to cost them 20 mph with that thing on there.

A friend of mine once got busted for speeding by a Mustang. He was doing about 70 and the Stang just starts riding his ***, so he speeds up a bit but the Stang won't give in. He continues to ride my friends *** and decides to rev too. My friend changes lanes to get away from him and then the lights just come out of the dash and the cop tells him to pull over. He pulls over pissed as hell and the cop just tells him to get out of the car, he cuffes him and gives him a 700 doller ticket for speeding. That was so fucked up, my friend went to court but lost too. Although the speed limit was 55, and he was doing 70 at the time the cop began to tail him, he wasn't given a ticket for that. He was ticketed for 105 while he was running to loose the cop. What a bitch!!!

Last patient of the day is a local cop, very nice guy, been seeing his family for years. He asks how my car is running. I answered that he can come with me for a short ride to find out. He accepted the invitation, placed his duty belt in the trunk and off we went.

Let the engine warm up for a few lazy miles and ... drove like a bat out of hell! He is grinning from ear to ear lauding how the car feels at speed and on the curves, marvels at its stability at 165mph, can't believe how it carves curves. We passed a car at 150mph and he says to go faster...LOL

Took him back to the office and he warns me of a new blue camaro hwy interceptor in the county. Then he adds: "But what we really need is a new RX-7 interceptor". How cool is that!
What is your job? Just curious.
