guy i knew from highschool who left for a few years to a nascar school or some bs like that came home over this past year and has been telling everyone he wants to run me. im not big into street racing i dont really feel comfortable in the scene but with my car i tend to get pulled into this sorta thing. theres a place in a nearby county industrial area where everyone runs and u usually get info on anyone whos raced in the past few months. he was there talking a little **** i dont think anything major but enough for my friends to call me and tell me everyone wanted to see me (bunch of guys i hadnt seen in a while)

i get there and theres scott with his 96 transam got m/t's mounted and id find out later that its no where near stock. anyway word of mouth got around to me hes got some kinda heavy duty rear end and tranny beacuse his past few couldnt hold up to the motor. i wasnt too familiar with the terms heh im not sure what a 6 bolt or 9 bolt or like 16 whatever a lotta bolt rear end.

i got lucky and some second gen supra burts a radiator hose on the strip while racing my friends mr2 and people started leaving so we got on the highway

whatever, street racing is one thing but i love playing around on the highway so we lined up at about 30mph, maybe faster i wasnt paying attention to speed but id say about 6k in second gear. he floors it his car SCREAMING in a ported cam'd unmuffled metal on metal almost onslaught of sound. my having my windows slightly down at the time got scared shitless but gunned it anyway. his rear bumper just started passing my front as i slammed on the gas we both shifted and he took about a cars lead, i couldnt seem to catch up.we let up at about 110 and he was a similar distance ahead.

we line up again, this time ill be ready, we start in 3rd gear well i do, about 5500 rpm and i gun it first, as soon as i nail it i hear him next to me. i hit fourth and soon after hear the crunch of his brutal sounding transmission between gears (it didnt sound good at all but it definatly held up to a lot). anyway to my suprise by the time i felt comfortable to check his distance i had him by about 2 car lengths and let off around 115

this went on for about 15 miles (great night empty parkway)

anyway he took me maybe 2 times and i got him a few either way the guy was quick.

we all met up after talking cars and **** both of us saying to our own crowds that the other one was faster (haha i guess were both impressed)

i dont know if i could take him street tire to street tire but i doubt i could have launched him with his m/t's

anyway ive got a new found respect for his car (as well as a few other camaros hes friends with)

sorry thats a lot to read i tend to drag things on and im a pretty shitty story teller

Nice race. It's ALWAYS fun putting cocky people in their place.

Very true... Being humble is very important. How does that saying go? "It's always the quiet ones that you least want to **** with."
