Maybe my engine isn't blown...

So me and FD Okinawa go out with a bunch of my buddies. We've got a WRX, an Impreza, a T-04E powered 180SX, a Mitsu Eclipse(Not sure if it was all wheel drive, but it was definitely turbo), and 3 FD's...one of them being mine with a "blown" engine...The other two FD's are on the opposite sides of the modified FD spectrum. One is T-04R powered, and the other still has stock twins in sequential mode and a stock Intercooler.
Now I thought that my FD has had a blown engine for awhile, so I've been slowly building up my parts to rebuild it....so I've got the attitude that I can't make it worse...
Either way, we go out and warm our cars up to race to Nago, one of the northern cities here in Okinawa. Me and FD Okinawa line up...launch on the Green light and I get burned as usual. Normally, I can take him on a launch (because I shift mad quick yo...and get no wheel hop), but he stays even with me and then blasts past me...damn T-04R's...
So I line up with the other FD. It's black with a veilside kit, Intake, full exhaust, and ECU. Nothing spectacular. I figured I'd get burned bad since he's got a good engine and good turbo's(oh did I mention my primary turbine has a LOT of shaft play...). The light turns green and I launch him(damn I can launch this car...) and in 1st gear completely destroy him....then I shift and he's STILL behind me. WTF? I shouldn't be this far ahead of him...in fact, I shouldn't be pulling ahead of him like I'm doing since I've got low compression in the rear rotor(or so I think)...3rd gear and I'm MILES ahead of him...WTF....
I did the poorman's compression test. Pulled the main fuse, pulled the leading plug and had someone crank the engine. I get three even whooshes...VERY loud. I put the plug back in and I pull the rear leading plug. Again I listen for three even whooshes...but it sounds like a loud whoosh and two "lighter" whooshes....cracked apex seal right?
I'm confused now...maybe my engine's alright?...but I'm too cheap to bring the car to mazda for a "real" compression test. B)

you put some atf in the spark plug holes. it gets rid of the carbon in the engine. it raises compression too. smokes alot though

don't act like you can't find 20000000000 sets of stock twin turbo's in yapan

Blah!...7's are rare here. Finding a turbine off of ANY 7 is like trying to find a 454 cui chevy engine on the East Coast...
