I Killed An Rx7 With My Kia! Twice!
#1
hey whats up?
i have a 96 kia sephia i use as a work car. im looking into buying an rx7 so thats why im on this site.
anyways, i raced my friend who has a sweet looking 85 rx7 12a, his is mostly stock, he has an exhaust and a couple other minor things in it, oh and hes got a stage 3 clutch, for reasons i have no idea, but its definitly one harsh clutch. its harsh enough that you cant take off in first without either spinning the tires or killing the engine.
my kia is all stock as well except for a holed out cat and i advanced the ignition timing by 7 degrees.
oh and i have a stage 1 clutch because my stock clutch worn out and a stage 1 was cheaper than a stock one so i got it instead. its only 126hp and 1.8 liters of displacment.
we decided to have a go at it by my house theres this 2 mile stretch of road that is awalys empty. so we take off and he instantly pulls ahead of me, i guess because im fwd and get no traction on my 185x60x14's.
after about 30mph we are neck and neck, and by 50mph im a car length ahead. at the end of the first race he said that he is running lean so he popped the hood and screwed around with the carb and then we raced again. (i think he was just pretending to adjust it)
the next race, was about the same except i cought some dirt on the road and spun second and a bit of third.. i still beat him anyways. not bad for a 126hp car huh?
it sure shut him up, because he was talkin all kinds of smack about how my car sucks and i agreed with him. me car does suck, it isnt a race car and i dont normaly even try to race it. i just use it to get to work and such. but he wouldnt shutup, so i had to shut him up :P

normaly i would agree with you about any rx7 beating me, i mean its a kia afterall.
his has that all aluminum thing over the top of the roof behind the sunroof. it looks so sweet. i share your love for first gens.
p.s riced out cars should be ran in a demolition derby. the "looks" of my kia is 100% stock, down to the factory wheels even.

i like the kia, its a good cheap econobox work car.
id rather keep it and get an rx7 anyways. thats where this site comes into play, research....
car-stats.com shows his car as having a 0-60 in 9.7 seconds.
my kia ranks in at 9.6 seconds also according to car-stats.com
