Fc Kills 308 At A Lapping Day!
#1
It was earlier this year at a lapping day at a retired airstrip known as Bremerton RaceWay. Only about 14 cars total showed up that day so we were split into two groups of 6~7 cars. I couldn't think of a better way to spend $60 and cash in a sick day all at once. Of all the cars there, only one or two would have chewed me up. Rich boy toys. They were in the other group. One Porsche came late. This car just came from Fordahl Motorsports after being there for close to a year. Needless to say the total amount dumped into this ride is more than I'll see after many, many years of working. This car was truly bad. But I'm getting sidetracked here.
In my group there was only one car that I wanted to lap up. There is limited passing along the one main straight and only when waved by. Safety first. If you catch up to a car after the twisties but they can pull on you in the straightaway, you still have the right of way to pass. This way you aren't on their bumper lap after lap. Well, I had my chance with the 308. I caught up to him and rode up his *** in the twisties like Mr. Gere's gerbils do. He had no choice but to let me go by. He couldn't even pull on me along the straightaway. I owned this 308. It felt good to whoop on something Italian with a prancing pony on the hood.
What kind was it? A '75 Dino 308 GT4. Sorry, no V12 in this one. Okay, so it's not an Enzo but it still made my day. This one was tuned pretty well and had some nice and sticky Advan A032R's on it. It was the only car out there that day that was close to me. It being a Ferrari made me feel better about the little FC that could (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...). Now if only some FD owners will come on out to play this season, I'll have some more to talk about.

At the time I had Advan A032R 225/50R16 up front and AVS Int. in the back. EBC Green Stuff brake pads all around. I didn't have the JIC FLT-A2 at the time, but the worn out stock shocks/springs on it. I had the speed, but the handling was abysmal compared to what it is now. I can hardly wait to get out there again and hunt down bigger game. Next season will be here soon.
::Joker voice:: Just wait'll they get a load of me. :smirk:

I hope this coming year brings a better assortment out to the open track days. Most of those dudes usually play with other rich kids in their own clubs and not come out to play with us riff-raff.

Expensive? Those Ferraris are only about $20k or so. The owner was cool with me and my EXTREMELY loud Japanese car (everybody at the track lost some of their hearing that day ) . The Dino 308 GT4 is sort of the redheaded stepchild of the Ferrari world. I just like telling that story without going into the details of the other car too quickly. When one hears the name Ferrari, this model does not come to mind for a reason.
Stuff like this makes me want to go back out there even more. :bigthumg:
