Just got on my Mazdaspeed vented hood and on the FC commander it shows nearly a 10 degrees drop in underhood temps. Problem is the hood doesnt lay perfectly flush with the front bumper and headlight covers. Is there a way to make it lay down farther without having hood pins???

What part of it isn't lining up? The sides, the front lip, the back? Also, is it a copy or the original?

I noticed the same thing....maybe not 10 degrees, but 3 degrees of H20 temp.

My RE Amemiya hold down just fine, but MOST fiberglass hoods I've seen have hood pins.

Well the whole front part needs to go down another quarter of an inch then it will be fine. I think it was supposed to come with the pins. Ill email the place i bought it. Maybe they will send me some. Still it wont look as nice with those pins. I heard spacers would help.

I believe that the drop in underhood temps is due to the fact the the front edge of the hood is acting like a giant hood scoop, plus it gives the car that highly sought-after "New York City cab on a hot summer day" look.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Aren't there some threaded adjustable supports with rubber tops at the front of the car that you could lower a bit? Also, the hood latch should be mounted with two bolts through slotted holes that may allow for some adjustment.

you might want to put the hood pins on. the reason is that the fiberglass/carbonfiber hoods are too light. when your going highspeed, wind might pick up the hood and just slam against your windsheid. i know of a few people this happen to. different car, but i believe it should be the same. i just got my scoot hood, and i'm putting the pins on...

I have a mazdaspeed hood on my 3rd gen and I don't use pins. This hood latches down tighter than the stock on did. I had it installed and painted by a quality bodyshop though. I can see that they moved the hood latch down some to pull the hood nice and snug. I am not putting ugly pins in my hood. But if you can't get yours down tight with the latch you may have too.
