I recently returned to my car after work to find some jerk had hit it and left a dent on the left front side-panel. It wasn't too major but enough to **** me off, as I do everything I can to find parking spots away from such dangers.

Anyway, I want to take it to a body shop to hopefully have the dent pushed out (and maybe a door ding as well if its possible to fix) and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with repairing the fiberglass? (whatever it is) or if it can even be repaired. If so, any idea what I could expect to pay?

Thanks for any advice,

-Billy

left front side panel? are you talking about the left qtr.panel, if so i am sure it can be pushed but it also has to do with how fresh your paint is or how well your paint has been takin care of,how deep the dent is,etc. If the paint is old it will probably crack if someone tries to push it. Post a pic of it and I can give you a roundabout estimate. Fiberglass can be repaired, but what is wrong with your fiberglass(what part, hood, bumper, etc.

Left front would be a fender, not a quarter panel, right? Anyway.. If the dent 'cracked' then what you have found is some body filler (bondo) underneath your paint. It can be repaired, but the panel will have to be stripped and repainted, then blended into the hood, headlight cover, front bumper cover, door and up the A pillar. Figure about $2000 to have it done up right with a new all-metal fender. If it's just a dent with no crease, chances are a paintless dent repair shop could pull it without too much difficulty - fenders are very easy to access from the backside. Figure $50-75 per panel. They should be able to do the door dings too at that price.

sinful7, i was thinking the fender also, but front side panel? it could mean the front of the qtr. panel (dogleg) where i have had mine hit twice. dont know what part he means though.PDR repair can be done if the paint is in good condition, either if you push it or if you use a hot glue dent puller but like i said if the paint is bad it will crack if you push or the glue puller will pull the paint of. Sidenote, it can still be done even if it has a crease in it, it just depends on how good the person who works on it is. As far as prices you are correct, Iusually charge about $25 for ea. ding but bigger dents do go for $50 to $150.

Yeah, fenders are a lot easier and cheaper to fix/replace than the 1/4 panels. If the damage isn't too severe, you could probably do the repairs yourself and save yourself some money as well as learn to DIY for the next ding that comes along...
